The Death of Love

"Love was never kind,
love was never fair
Had it for a moment
Rested my wings for just a bit
Took that chance
Gave up that freedom
For them
Love was it ever really there?
I’ll replace the love lost with my freedom once more.
The butterfly will always fly
And not always know sorrow
Maybe one day the butterfly will know the same type of kindred soul
Maybe one day she will know when to truly just let go
Maybe she won’t feel so lost and dead inside from the burn and tarnish of her wings.
Maybe she’ll know that love doesn’t always mean saying goodbye
